• Organic solar panels by Konarka Technologies with 8.3% conversion efficiency

  • Konarka.jpgHere’s a new way to soak in the sun, or probably might be in the near future, organic solar panels. Konarka Technologies, Inc. came up with these organic solar panels, with a record breaking 8.3% conversion efficiency, certified by the National Energy Renewable Laboratory (NREL). The Power Plastic solar cells can also be printed and coated on to flexible surfaces. Using the roll-to-roll manufacturing process just the way newspapers are printed, these organic panels could be the future of solar energy generation. Being flexible, these solar panels by Konarka will have a bunch of applications, and does not just require the sun to generate energy. It can also juice up with a light bulb, making it great for indoor use too!

Let’s wait for the technology to be pushed further up the ramp, and we’re pretty sure just about every appliance of ours at home will have the Power Plastic solar cells wrapped around them.
